X Accused Of Deactivated Reporting Disinformation Features About Elections

Elon Musk's platform X is getting into trouble again. This time, X caused a commotion because it had disabled the feature to report misinformation about the election.

Quoted from Reuters, a research organization is concerned that disinformation could spread quickly before large voters in the United States (US) and Australia, especially after the feature reports it is disabled.

Since 2022, X has introduced a feature to report misleading posts. Data from research Reset.tech states that X has removed the political category over the past week, except in the European Union (EU).

However, the Australian General Elections Commission (AEC) stated otherwise. It can still report posts containing disinformation about politics even though it is reported that the feature has been deactivated.

X could not be reached in response to this feature change, but the issue of disinformation on platform X is indeed being discussed intensively by many parties from various countries.

In July, Australia's internet security regulator wrote a letter to X asking for an explanation of the overwhelming hate speech on the platform.

In addition, the EU government is also questioning disinformation on X at this time. The EU attached the data and stated that X had a very large ratio of disinformation uploads.

Although various accusations continue to be made against X, this company continues to argue. In his case with the EU government, X stated that his company remains obedient to the Practice Code made by the Digital Service Act (DSA), especially in eradicating disinformation.
