New Crews From NASA And Roscosmos Have Arrived On ISS

JAKARTA - The Soyuz spacecraft that sent a new crew with three members finally arrived at International Space Station (ISS) on September 15.

The three people sent to the ISS are two cosmonauts or crew members of the spacecraft, Oleg Tengetameenko and Nikolai Chub, and AstronautNASALoral O'Hara. The three new crew members will replace the three crews who have spent a full year of missions due to aircraft damage.

With the arrival of the three crew on the ISS, Astronaut Frank Rubio's mission from NASA, Sergey Prokopyev of Roscosmos, and Dmitri Petelin will be officially taken over. The previous three crew members are expected to return on 27 September to come.

Quoted fromSpace, Konnonenko, Chub, and O'Hara were supposed to depart last March. However, their mission had to be delayed because the Soyuz MS-22 aircraft launched with the Rubio, Prokopyev, and Petelin crew had a cooling leak.

Despite the problems that occurred in Soyuz MS-22, NASA and Roscosmos finally agreed to keep sending Intremenko, Chub, and O'Hara in February. NASA also stated that Russia had explained the issue of leakage on the plane.

From the results obtained, the cooling leak that occurred was caused by the impact of the micrometeroid, not due to defects on the plane. Therefore, the three newly sent crews remain using predetermined aircraft.

The Soyuz-2.1a rocket itself was launched at 22.44 WIB from Kosmodrom Baikonur. After launching, the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft was placed in orbit and approached the station's Rassvet at 1.53 WIB.
