JAKARTA - Solflare, a Solana wallet provider, has integrated MetaMask Snaps to allow MetaMask users to manage their Solana portfolio directly from the popular crypto wallet.

According to an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, the Solana wallet provider is “reducing barriers to entry and usage” to the Solana blockchain with this new integration. Using an extension called MetaMask Snaps, Solflare will allow MetaMask users to interact with various decentralized applications (DApps) in the Solana ecosystem.

According to Filip Dragoslavic, co-founder of Solflare, the “friction” of installing new wallets has “prevented many potential Solana users” from entering the ecosystem. "This integration could be a game changer to introduce the largest users on Web3 to try Solana and see for themselves," added Dragoslavic.

This feature was made possible through a collaboration with MetaMask Snaps, a way to expand the functionality of the popular Web3 wallet. Christian Montoya, product lead at MetaMask Snaps, commented on the integration and said that introducing MetaMask users to Solana DApps is a big step towards “a more seamless user experience.”

The highly anticipated MetaMask Snaps are designed to allow users to interact with a variety of different blockchain networks. In a recent interview with Cointelegraph at Korea Blockchain Week, ConsenSys Chief Strategy Officer Simon Morris described Snaps as an “Apple App Store” for MetaMask, allowing third-party developers to launch DApps called “Snaps.”

Additionally, this feature allows users to manage SOL, Solana Program Library tokens, and non-fungible tokens via MetaMask. The announcement highlights that it allows existing MetaMask users to integrate their wallets across the Ethereum network and other Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains with the Solana blockchain.

Because Solana has a different infrastructure, access to this ecosystem requires a dedicated Solana wallet like Solflare. However, with this new feature, users will be able to manage their interactions with Solana via MetaMask.

To connect with Solana, MetaMask users need to visit the Solflare website or connect their wallet to any Solana app. After the installation process, users will be able to connect their EVM assets to Solana
