JAKARTA - WhatsApp has finally officially launched the HD-quality photo and video delivery feature to all its users starting today.

Through its official Threads account, WhatsApp posted a video containing promotions, asking users to immediately share their best moments with the new feature.

" HD photos and HD videos have been rolled out globally," said WhatsApp spokesman Ellie Heatrick.

This feature has been tested since last June, which was first discovered by WABetaInfo, where users can choose better quality when sending photos and videos, the option only appears when the user selects an HD-sized file.

However, that doesn't mean users can send photos or videos in their original quality, as this option retains dimension, but light compression is still applied.

Previously, WhatsApp users could only send images in highly compressed quality, making this application a big weakness compared to competing services like iMessage.

To try it, follow the easy steps below, as quoted by The Verge, Thursday, September 7.

1. Select photos or videos to send from your phone gallery.

2. Then, you will see the HD button at the top of your screen.

3. Once you select that feature, an option will appear asking you to choose the Standard Quality or HD Quality.

4. Then select HD Quality, click the send button.

5. Finally, the photos and videos you send will have the best quality.
