X Plans to Hide News Headlines on News Links to Make It More Aesthetic

JAKARTA - The owner of social media platform X, Elon Musk plans to launch a new way to display news links without titles or descriptions.

Discovered by the @xDaily account from the Fortune article, the social media that was formerly called Twitter will only display links and images in its news posts. Elon Musk later confirmed the news.

According to Musk, this change is to make the post more beautiful. "This is coming from me straight away. Will greatly enhance the aesthetic," Musk said in response to a tweet from the account.

Currently, when you share a news article or blog post on X, it displays the title and summary text (web only) along with the header image in the preview card of a post.

It's not yet known when the update will come to X, but one thing is clear, if this change rolls out later, X will only display images with links in that post.

A source who spoke to Fortune also said that the update aims to reduce the height of posts to fit posts on one other screen. They also said that Musk thought removing headlines from the preview card would reduce clickbait.

On the other hand, Musk also recently said journalists vying for more freedom and higher incomes should directly publish to X.

"If you are a journalist who wants more freedom to write and higher income, then publish directly on this platform!" he wrote on Monday, August 21.
