Kominfo Takes Serious Steps To Take Content Action And Slot Gambling Applications

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information takes online gambling content and applications seriously or slots that continue to operate in Indonesia.

"Since I was first appointed as Minister of Communication and Information, I immediately stepped on the gas to order the Director General of Aptika and all his staff to handle online gambling conflicts quickly and swiftly because this is a concern for the wider community," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi in a press conference on Tuesday, August 8 in Jakarta.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi also admitted that Kominfo had made real efforts by deciding access, and removing the Higgs Domino Island application from the Google Play Store and App Store.

"From July 2018 to August 20023 Kominfo has terminated access and blocked 886,719 online gambling content, so on average every day we cut off access to 1500-2000 sites," added Budi.

Budi added that since his inauguration as Minister of Communication and Information last July, he has terminated access and blocked 40,622 online gambling content.

However, Budi realizes that the efforts he made at Kominfo have not been fully able to eradicate online/slot gambling content in Indonesia. So, Kominfo will continue to coordinate with the police to assist in law enforcement.

"As a concrete step, I will also immediately coordinate with the National Police Chief to support the legal action process for online gambling actors, both the developer of the airport, the sponsor of the promotional party and the party behind online gambling activities operating in Indonesia," he concluded.
