JAKARTA - Microsoft has finally officially announced its Bing Chat application for third-party browsers, such as Google Chrome and Apple Safari.

This Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot can later work both in desktop third-party browsers and in its mobile version.

"With so many new and useful features now part of Bing, we're excited to announce that you can start using the new AI-powered Bing in third-party browsers on web and mobile," Microsoft said in an announcement. August.

With Bing Chat, users can ask various questions with images to understand the context, interpret them, and answer questions about the images.

"The next step in this journey is enabling Bing to show the incredible value of summarized answers, image generation, and more, to more people," said Microsoft.

However, if users want the best Bing Chat experience, the company recommends users to use Bing on the Microsoft Edge browser.

"With Edge, you'll open longer conversations, chat history, and more Bing features built right into the browser. To experience the best browser for Bing, and get full features," explained Microsoft.

While removing Bing Chat from its main browser was a bold choice for Microsoft, the company still cut some of the chatbot functionality.

Bing Chat on third-party browsers is only 2,000 characters which is much lower than the 4,000 character limit on Microsoft Edge.

Then, the turn limit for OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 supported chatbots in Chrome and Safari is set at just five messages per conversation, as opposed to the 30 messages that can be used in major browsers.

What's more, users using the Windows 10 or 11 Operating System (OS) will also receive notifications on the taskbar encouraging them to download and switch to Microsoft Edge for a better experience.

Finally, users can also use Dark Mode to be more comfortable when chatting with Bing Chat on desktop and mobile.

"This feature, which saves battery and is easier on your eyes, now works in Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise on your desktop browser, and is also available in the Bing mobile app. This is another highly requested feature, and we are pleased to have brought it for you," said Microsoft.
