JAKARTA - In competition to compete with Twitter, the latest data from Similarweb shows a decline in Threads users from the first week of release, up to the second week.

Threads may start with a very strong start, even just five days of launch, Threads has managed to attract more than 100 million registrants. However, the journey is still long enough to be able to compete with Twitter users' loyalty.

According to Similarweb data, on July 7, Threads has more than 49 million daily active users on Android worldwide. That's about 45 percent of Twitter's usage, which had more than 109 million Android users on the day.

However, on Friday, July 14, Similarweb found a decline in Threads daily active users to 23.6 million users, or about 22 percent of Twitter viewers.

Furthermore, the report also saw that users in the US spent about 21 minutes of engagement with Threads on July 7, and down on July 14, it was more than 6 minutes.

In the first two full days of Threads available around Thursday and Friday, Similarweb saw web traffic down by 5 percent compared to the same day the previous week.

"Nevertheless, traffic has bounced back, over the past 7 days data has still fallen 11 percent year-on-year," the report said.

Because it was just launched, Threads still needs a lot of improvement. One of the weaknesses seen by VOI as a user is the Timeline Threads which is still random, and has not been personalized.
