Proton Launches Windows Proton Drive Application, What Are The Advantages?

JAKARTA - Proton, one of the world's leading privacy companies, launched the Windows Proton Drive app, which allows users to automatically back up files from Windows devices to Proton's end-to-end encrypted cloud service.

"Today, we are excited to announce our next move towards this better internet with the long-awaited launch of the Windows Proton Drive app," wrote Proton Founder and CEO Andy Yen in his announcement, Wednesday, July 12.

With the Windows Proton Drive app, Proton guarantees the user's convenience to sync files and photos, as well as allows you to access them from any device.

This Proton Drive encryption includes not only file content but also metadata, including file names and folders, file sizes, upload dates, and more.

In addition, the Windows Proton Drive app will make it easier for you to upload and download files to the cloud, as well as sync everything. Unlike other desktop cloud storage services that can only sync Desktop folders, Documents, Downloads, Images, or Music, Proton Drive allows you to sync any folder on your computer without restrictions.

Later, all files in the selected folder will be automatically synced to the cloud and can be accessed easily in the Drive application below the Computer section.

"With the Proton Drive version of the history feature, if you become a victim of ransomware attacks, you will be able to recover files easily," Yen said further.

You can now download and use the Windows Proton Drive app with Windows 10 and 11. On the other hand, Proton is also testing Proton Drive in beta for macOS desktop apps.
