Mercedes-Benz Investment IDR 21 Trillion To Build A Van Electricity Factory In Poland

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz Vans will invest 1.3 billion euros or around Rp. 21 trillion to build its first electric van factory in Jawor, Poland.

A Van-making division of Mercedes-Benz signed a declaration of intent with the Polish government and other partners on Monday, December 12 yesterday.

With this agreement, the Polish government agreed to add a van factory to the Jawor website where they built combustion engines and batteries for Mercedes-Benz cars.

Launching from Reuters, the plant will be the fourth Mercedes-Benz van factory in Europe, which is reorganized to produce only fully electric vans built on the VAN.EA platform.

Unfortunately, the possibility of expanding the factory through a joint venture with Rivian will not materialize. Because, on Monday, Rivian is a three-month-old joint venture.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Mercedes-Benz Vans and Rivian to produce electric vans at a factory in Poland, Hungary or Romania in the next few years was carried out in September.

Initially, the deal announced by the company on Thursday, September 8 aims to allow the two companies to work together in producing electric vans.

Unfortunately this joint venture had to be stopped by Rivian. However, plans for a new electric vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Vans in Jawor, Poland were not affected.
