BMW To Produce New I4 Electric Car With Affordable Price And Smaller Battery

JAKARTA - BMW will start production of electric cars from the BMW i4 range to the United States in the first quarter of 2023 later.

In a press release shared by the company, Engadget notes that BMW's new EV model, the BMW i4 eDrive35 will be priced from $52.395.

As the entry-level model in the i4 lineup, the BMW i4 eDrive35 has a smaller battery compared to the eDrive40 and M50 models.

The new model will get a battery pack with a usable capacity of 70.2 kwh gross and 66 kwh. With that said, BMW estimates the eDrive35 will be good for an EPA range of around 260 miles.

If you want to see more capacity and range from the eDrive35, you can expect to get around 271 miles from the M50 and 301 miles from the eDrive40.

With DC fast charging, the i4 eDrive35 can charge up to 180 kw. If charged from 10% to 80%, then charging the car battery only takes 32 minutes, according to BMW.

With a single rear electric motor, the eDrive35 produces less power than its two counterparts, having an estimated 281 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

BMW notes there is no difference on the inside of the eDrive35 with the eDrive40. BMW will feature a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 14.9-inch instrument panel.

BMW expects to start production on the 2023 i4 eDrive35 before the end of the year.
