JAKARTA - Comcast Corp's NBCUniversal and Alphabet Inc's Google are now leading the race to team up with Netflix Inc to help it create an ad-supported subscription plan. This is known from the Wall Street Journal report on Wednesday, June 22.

Comcast's video advertising division, Freewheel, can help Netflix with technology to serve ads, while NBCUniversal's sales team can assist streaming service providers by selling ads in the United States and Europe.

But Google, which already has a relationship with Netflix as a provider of ad-buying tools, could pursue an exclusive deal with the company, the report said.

Alphabet and Comcast did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters on the report.

Shareholders in the company, who will soon decide how to launch an ad-supported streaming option at a lower price, have yet to make any decisions.

Netflix said in April that inflation, the war in Ukraine and intense competition had contributed to the massive loss of subscribers for the first time in more than a decade.

The company is now looking to introduce an ad-supported subscription plan later this year. The goal is to increase the revenue of the video streaming platform. This schedule is earlier than originally planned.
