JAKARTA – Online chess platform Chess.com is reportedly partnering with a payment service company from fiat to crypto, Wyre. The partnership is aimed at releasing a new NFT marketplace called Treasure Chess.

Reporting from Cointelegraph, this platform allows users to convert the chess game played on Treasure.chess.com into Treasure NFT. Users can then buy, sell, print and collect their “Treasures” via the layer 2 blockchain network, Polygon.

Treasure Chess generates Ethereum Addresses for users who log in with their Chess.com accounts. Wyre allows players to use a debit card to buy the stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) to buy NFT, without having to have a separate wallet.

Chess.com states that its mission is to make the user's chess experience richer and to support chess streamers and content creators in celebrating their favorite matches. This collaboration enriches the NFT universe, especially in the sports industry.

According to a CNBCTV18 report, on April 21, 2022 crypto infrastructure developer Wyre announced the launch of a new marketplace called Treasure Chess. Developed in collaboration with Chess.com, an online chess platform, this marketplace is an amalgamation of blockchain technology and chess, the first of its kind in the gaming ecosystem.

Announcement from Chess.com states anyone who plays on Chess.com can take part in Treasure Chess to join in the fun and create Treasures. Game can be scored twice, once by each player. To get started, the first three Treasures that a player creates are free of charge.

“Keep in mind that if you don't participate in Treasure Chess, other people won't be able to list the Treasures of the games you play for sale. And if you want to get out of the Treasure Chess system completely, (including your opponent's ability to score your game), you can contact our support team, and they'll take care of it for you," the announcement reads.
