Earlier Today, Spotify And Discord Could Not Be Accessed For Some Users

JAKARTA – The audio streaming platform Spotify and the messaging platform Discord were temporarily turned off and inaccessible to thousands of users on Tuesday, March 8. This information appears according to the outage tracking website, Downdetector.com.

More than 138.000 users have reported problems with Spotify, while more than 65,000 other users say there are issues with Discord.

"We are aware of the issue causing the message to fail and are working on fixing it," Discord said in a tweet.

Discord mentions if the cause of the problem is due to technical reasons as mentioned on discordstatus.com. "Engineers have been at the root cause of this issue with a Google Cloud component called "Traffic Director" who is responsible for configuring our load balancing layer. In a malfunction, it caused our internal load balancing layer to not have a valid configuration, leading to loss of API availability."

However, after repairs were made, at 03.00 a.m. local time Discord returned to normal operation.

Discord is back up and running for messages, calls, and streams! We are still working on a few things like attachments and typing events, but those should come back online soon.

Downdetector also tracks outages by compiling status reports from multiple sources including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outage may affect more users.

"Something went wrong, and we're looking into it. Thanks for your report!" tweeted Spotify's Twitter account status, around 01.22 a.m., March 9. But a few hours later, Spotify is finally still accessible again.

It is not known exactly what causes Spotify to be inaccessible for some of its subscribers. Spotify itself has not provided an explanation regarding the problem in more detail.
