Ford Becomes The First Automotive Manufacturer To Sell Digital Number Plates As Official Accessories

JAKARTA - The use of digital number plates will soon become more common in the US as Reviver has reached an agreement with Ford to sell its RPlate as Ford's official accessory, making Ford the first automotive manufacturer to do so.

Reviver is a technology company known for its products called "RPlate." The RPlate is a digital vehicle number plate that can be used as a substitute for conventional number plates that have the ability to display digital-based information on number plates including advanced security features.

Quoted from Carbuzz, September 28, Reviver will use Blue Oval's corporate network as one of the best-selling brands in the US, led by the F-Series series.

"To be able to partner with a historic brand in the automotive industry like Ford is satisfying," said Reviver's Founder & Chief Strategy Officer, Neville Boston.

As part of this deal, the RPlate will be offered at more than 300 Ford dealers in California, Arizona, and Michigan. The RPlate will be given Ford spare parts number and sold directly from the dealers, meaning the price can be put into additional vehicle prices.

For the price, Ford buyers will be charged USD 599 for approximately IDR 9.2 million for a battery plate, with a cabled version valued at USD 749 or IDR 11.6 million.

With this price, the RPlate is equipped with bright/dark mode, banner messages with custom text, and anti-stealing features. However, a higher-cost cable-based version adds travel and distance tracking features, parking modes, and vehicle discovery. This is connected to a 12-volt battery instead of a replaceable battery.

In addition to these features, Reviver emphasized the sustainable benefits of its products, which eliminate the need for traditional metal plates. This complements Ford's green initiative which is now its partner.
