JAKARTA - The international automotive event, the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), is one of the prestigious exhibitions with several vehicle manufacturers launching and showing off their newest models.
It is a tradition if the event will be held in one of the largest cities in Switzerland, Geneva, according to the name of the event. However, for this year, the event was presented very differently. Because the exhibition will be held in the capital city of Qatar, Doha.
Reporting from CarBuzz, Wednesday, July 26, the GIMS event in Qatar was supposed to be held at the end of 2021 and 2022, along with an exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was canceled.
The CEO of GIMS, Sandro Mesquita, said that Qatar's election as the host was the right move, although his party hoped this prestigious exhibition could return to Geneva.
"We are on the right track to make this event a new top motorcycle exhibition for the Middle East, bridging the gap between the attractive auto industry in the East and West," Mesquita said.
The GIMS 2023 event will be enlivened by 30 different automotive manufacturers that will introduce the latest 10 cars to be launched at the event.
Although the organizers have not provided the names of the brands that will be included in GIMS 2023, it is likely that the list will be disclosed through their social media in the future.
This edition of GIMS will be held between 5 - 14 October, which will coincide with the F1 racing event in Qatar on 6 - 8 October 2023.
Next year is the 100th anniversary of GIMS being held as an international automotive exhibition. It is targeted that this event will return to Geneva on February 26 and March 3.
