JAKARTA - Pearl Jam's Mike McCready is writing an opera rock about Chris Cornell and the Seattle grunge scene.
Pearl Jam's band and Cornell's band Soundgarden emerged from the city of Pacific Northwest at almost the same time, and became an important figure with Nirvana.
In a new interview with Guitar World, McCready revealed that he was working on a project to commemorate the scene and the late Cornell.
"I see it as one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time, apart from being friends," McCready said of Cornell.

McCready added that he currently sees the project as a combination of recordings and maybe some kind of stage/game. "I'm working on a script and I have about 18 songs that I'm working on, and I'm singing. It's been a long journey," he added.
