Beating G-Pluck Performs At The Beatles' Early Career Club

JAKARTA - The Beatles band from Jakarta G-Pluck followed the Grosse Freiheit and Reeperbahn roads in Hamburg Germany to appear at a club called Indra Club which is one of the historical places for the beginning of John Lennon's four friends, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

G-Pluck consisting of Garnida Clouds (bass), Gilang Pramudya (guitar/vocals), Fery Gustian (guitar/vocals), Beni Pratama (drums), and reinforced by Aufa Kantadiredja (keyboards/vocals) rose to the Indra Club stage at 20.15 local time.

"Of course it is an honor for us to be able to play at the very historic Indra Club for The Beatles. Thank you to Sam from the Indra Club who invited us to perform here. Thank you also to the Indonesian Embassy in Hamburg for facilitating until finally the G-Pluck arrived in this city," said the bass player G-Pluck Awan Garnida from the stage of the Indra Club Hamburg Germany, Sunday (10/9) evening local time, quoted by Antara.

On August 17, 1960, John Lennon's Beatles, George Harrison, Pete Best, Paul McCartney, and Stuart Sutcliffe arrived in Hamburg City to play at the Indra Club as their first test of guts. The club owner, Bruno Koschmider, signed the young Beatles to appear for two months until October 16, 1960.

At that time, John Lennon et al. received a fee of 30 deutschemarks per person every day deposited every Thursday.

The fee is for the band's performance for 4.5 hours every night from Monday to Friday and 6 hours every Saturday and Sunday night. After the first arrival in the port city, The Beatles then had several gigs in Hamburg until 1962.

"The Grosse Freiheit and Reeperbahn areas are known as places to forge a mentality and showmanship of many bands at that time, one of which was The Beatles. They played for decades to become a big band that is remembered until now," added Awan.

In his appearance at the Indra Club which is part of a series of British and European tours this time, G-Pluck presented a number of flagship numbers such as "Twist and Shout", "Ask Me Why", "Love Me Do", "Help", "Devil in Her Heart", "If I Needed Someone", and "Pnny Lane" and successfully made The Beatles lover at Indra Club sway.

"Thank you for being here to witness our performance tonight. Hopefully we can return to Hamburg next year and play longer in front of you, as well as try out other stages," said Awan who replied to the applause of the audience.

Appearing for two hours, G-Pluck also sang several other popular numbers including "Imagine", "Come Together", "Something", "The Long and Winding Road", "Roll Overtry", "Rock 'n Roll Music", "I Saw Her Standing There", and almost closed the performance through the song "I Want to Hold Your Hand."

"We want more, more and more, please!" shouted the audience at the Indra Club asking the band to continue playing on stage which then received support from the manager of the Indra Club, Sam.

So, the band also presented seven extra songs as their final weapon that night through the songs "She Loves You", "All My Loving", "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", Dizzy Miss Lizzy", "Blackbird", I Will", and "Hey Jude" to quench the thirst of Beatles lovers in the city of Hamburg.
