Toyota has revealed a series of innovative vehicle concepts scheduled to be exhibited at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.

One of the highlights is the EPU, the concept of a medium-sized electric pickup truck that can be an illustration of a future production model that promises sustainable transportation.

From Toyota Global's official release, October 21, called the EPU, it was designed as a pickup truck sized which was built with a monokok body structure. With a length of 5,070 mm, a width of 1,910 mm, and a height of 1,710 mm, this EV concept is smaller than the Toyota Hilux which is currently sold globally, but the wheelbase concept is longer, which is 3,350 mm.

This concept also features a dual cabin design with Toyota claiming that its monocok construction makes this pickup truck powerful for all needs. Access to the back tub is done through a backdoor consisting of two parts that allow users to put longer items in the tub.

Toyota has not provided all the details about this EV, images showing that its payload tub can be configured for various tasks, including rail support that can help carry long items on the roof.

The cabin can be seen from the image is a futuristic and minimalist design combination. The dashboard features a significant storage area on it with two screens standing freely behind the steering wheel and on the center console. Interestingly, the gear button is located on the screen console so that it provides space for relief on the center console.

Toyota has not disclosed any powertrain specifications for the EPU yet, but the company says that this EV packaging ensures a low center of gravity for " superior handling stability and driving comfort".

Well, more details about this concept will be available when this model makes its public debut on the Japan Mobility Show which starts on October 26.
