Volkswagen Promises Machine Performance And Sound To ID. GTI, But Without Simulations Of Gigi Transfers

JAKARTA - Volkswagen recently revealed the concept of ID. GTI to expand the lineup of their electric cars in the future. This car was officially introduced at the IAA Mobility 2023 event in Germany.

The concept of this car not only marks the survival of the existing GTI model for 48 years, but is also the first time GTI has been present in the form of an electric vehicle (EV).

Although ID. GTI will be the first Electric Vehicle (EV) in GTI's history, VW promises that this car will provide the same experience as its predecessor, GTI Experience Control.

VW explained that this system will provide maximum driving experience on ID. GTI, as is the GTI model with conventional engines. This is an important step in responding to consumer doubts about the excitement of driving with EVs.

Although ID. GTI will provide GTI-style driving pleasure with gasoline engines, this car will not use a dental transfer simulation. In fact, transmission transfer is one of the iconic characteristics that makes GTI so well known.

Kai Grunitz, head of Volkswagen's R&D, said that even without dental displacements, the model would have a distinctive GTI thinness characteristic.

"We want to make it responsive, so customers can feel the difference with the damping setting. This car will be fast but still comfortable, it will require greater power than the ID.2all concept," said Grunitz, quoted from Autocar, Friday, September 8.

The electric gear shift system has been used by several manufacturers in their electric vehicle lineup, as Hyundai does. To provide a driving experience similar to gasoline-engined vehicles, Hyundai added a simulated feature of dental and voice movement on the Ioniq 5 N, a high-performance electric SUV developed by the N division.

Even without the sound of gear movement, Volkswagen will also provide the sound of fake gasoline engines on ID. GTI. This will combine the agile performance of electric vehicles with the distinctive sound of GTI gasoline engines.

The basic design of ID. GTI has similarities with the concept of ID. 2all introduced earlier this year. This is not a coincidence, because the VW design has considered the GTI concept when designing the hatback of the concept.

VW ID. GTI is equipped with a sporty front and rear beper design element, with a rim inspired by Mk1 GTI. The sporty touch is increasingly felt by placing the back wing over the rear window that blends with the top of the vehicle.

The launch of VW ID. GTI is also a clear proof of the manufacturer's commitment to developing electric cars. VW plans to launch eleven other new electric models by 2027.

In addition, VW also plans to stop production of internal combustion engines starting in 2030, and by 2033, the German manufacturer will start producing electric cars in Europe.
