Actor's Union Reaches Agreement Point After 118 Strike Day

JAKARTA - Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists or SAG-AFTRA strike ended after starting last July. Today, Thursday, November 9, the SAG-AFTRA social media account announced the end of the action after finding an agreement.

"Our TV/Teater Negotiation Committee voted unanimously to agree a tentative agreement with AMPTP [Film and Television Producer Alliance]. Starting at 00:01 PT on November 9, our strike was officially stopped & all picket locations closed," SAG-AFTRA said in a recent tweet.

SAG-AFTRA also noted that agreements with AMPTP or the Film and Television Producer Alliance will run for three years containing wage increases, protection of actors for artificial intelligence (AI), as well as additional bonuses from streaming increases and many others.

The full agreement will be released on Friday, November 10 after being reviewed by the SAG-AFTRA National Council.

This strike caused the actors not to be able to promote films, shoot, and things related to acting.

After this news was announced, various Hollywood actors celebrated the deal by sharing posts via social media.

Jeremy Allen White, who was asked directly, replied, "I don't know the details of the agreement yet but I'm sure (SAG-AFTRA) gets what we and they want, and I'm happy for our crew."

Daniel Dae Kim wrote, "Let's hope the agreement is fair and we can get back to work!"

Kumail Nanjiani wrote, 'YES!!!! My job. I can write a trailer that I am very enthusiastic about tonight!'

A number of film productions that were stopped were also reportedly immediately preparing for production. Deadpool 3, which was directed by Shawn Levy, is said to have shot 50%.

Beeplejuice 2, Tim Burton's new production is said to have two days of filming remaining, as well as Juror No. 2. Venom 3 is also said to be continuing filming even though they have just announced that the film will be released in November 2024.

The film It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, will start filming as a priority for Sony's production house considering that this film is planned to air on February 9, 2024.
