Almost 25 Years Of Acting, Song Kang Ho Has No Intention Of Being A Director

JAKARTA - Song Kang Ho feels that he has no intention of sitting behind the scenes. Armed with 25 years of experience, in fact the actor who has been acting for more than 25 years has no plans to become a director.

In his latest film Cobweb, Song Kang Ho plays director Kim Ki Yeol who struggles to re-record the film's last scene and believes the scene can make the film better.

"I don't think I'm just focused on being a director but thinking about what to do with a lot of characters and one goal," Song Kang Ho said at a press conference for the film Cobweb on Wednesday, September 20.

"I think the role of director of the film is beyond my own ability. So, no," he said again.

So far, the 75th Cannes Film Festival winner is satisfied with his job as an actor. He emphasized that so far he has not had a single plan to become a director.

"As I said, I have more than enough and difficult work," said Song Kang Ho.

Meanwhile, Song Kang Ho expressed his pleasure to meet director Kim Jee Won in his latest work. The two collaborated for the fifth film after meeting in the 1998 film The Quiet Family.

"It's been 25 years of cooperation and every time I play the film, it feels like I've gone through a cinema journey together (Kim Jee Won). I've always been enthusiastic and hopeful, what I'm going to play, including now," said Song Kang Ho.

"Because I think of this film like a trip, I think the world is experimental and full of challenges. That's the essence of the Korean cinema presented by Kim Jee Won," he said.

The film Cobweb set in the 1970s tells the story of South Korea censoring films and limiting the space for story movement. Success with the film, director Kim Ji Yeol (Song Kang Ho) has been criticized for his films.

In the middle of the process of making the film Cobweb, he dreams of a different ending than the one he made. He needed two days to change the last scene and the script. However, the script did not pass the sensor. Kim Ji Yeol struggles to change the ending of the film's story.

The film Cobweb will soon be released in Indonesian cinemas.
