Review Of The Javanese Land Story Film: Pocong Gundul, The Introduction Of Retrocognition Om Hao That Makes Tegas

JAKARTA - After working on the film KKN Di Desa Penari, Awi Suyadi with Manoj Punjabi again featured the horror film The story of Tanah Jawa: Pocong Gundul. The film, which was based on a true story and had already been recorded with the same title, was ready to air on September 21.

Broadly speaking, this film tells the story of a boy named Hao (Deva Mahenra) who has retrocognition power and has to deal with an evil shaman named Walisdi (Iwa K) who turns into a Pocong Gundul accompanied by his little friend Rida (Della Dartyan) in order to eradicate violent terrorists every 10 years in a school.

Awi introduced retrocognition in a slow way at the beginning of the film to lead the audience to understand the story before actually meeting the antagonist, Pocong Gundul. Even though it's slow, tension is maintained with a slip of humor and romance between Hao and Rida.

Entering the second half, the film The Story of the Land of Java: Pocong Gundul is no longer a fuss. The audience is invited to immediately follow Hao's adventures using his retrocognition skills to help a case of a child missing at school. Terror began to arrive quickly until it reached the climax of this film.

Flash back is used efficiently and not long-winded. Walsidi, who turned out to be a scientific follower, has been described in detail with differences in color and style so that it makes sense and makes the audience not feel confused about the origin of Pocong Gundul.

Pocong in the archipelago culture is the most frightening ghost sighting because it is only circulating in Indonesia. The film, produced by Manoj Punjabi, adds to the reckless depiction of a pocong figure with the concept of cloth on the open and bare head.

From the beginning of the film, the audience was able to feel the tension that was built perfectly by Deva Mahenra and Awi Suryadi as directors. This is supported by the placement of jumpscare which is difficult to guess so that the audience cannot guess when the figure of Pocong Gundul will emerge. However, when its appearance arrived, it succeeded in making the audience hysterically frightened.

Although it succeeded in making the audience scream in fear, Awi Suryadi still included small humor, which of course matched the moment so as not to damage the tense atmosphere of the film. This seems to make the audience can 'breathing' a little from the terror revenge of the shaman Walisdi.

The use of music that is not excessive tends to take advantage of music from the birth of a spell as if arranged into a 'beatbox' is also interesting to follow, especially in Javanese.
