JAKARTA The Sabang Merauke Pahlawan Nusantara performance which was held on August 19 and 20, 2023 at JIExpo Theater, Jakarta amazed the audience. More than 300 intergenerational artists from various professions enlivened the colossal and magnificent performances to form beautiful harmony.

The diversity of Indonesian culture, ranging from dances, music, songs, to wastra Nusantara, is also summarized in what was initiated by igasukan and BCA. Coinciding with the momentum of celebrating the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, this performance is expected to commemorate the services of the heroes of the archipelago while at the same time growing the love of the community, especially the younger generation for Indonesian culture and reviving the soul of nationalism.

Held for two days with four performances, the performance that carries the connectivity of the cultural diversity and beauty of the country's art driven by hundreds of proud Indonesian artists is expected to inspire the values of unity and the unity of diversity from the west end to the eastern end of Indonesia.

Segendang sepererian, Senior Vice President of BCA, Norisa Saifuddin menuturkan Pagelaran Sabang Merauke Pahlawan Nusantara merupakan bentuk penghormat terhadap jasa para pahlawan sebelum yang telah berperan penting dalam Kemerdekaan Indonesia. Melalui palacaran ini, diharapkan kemerdekaan yang direngkuh oleh pahlawan masa lalu dapat dilanjut secara relay oleh para pahlawan masa kini dari berbagai profesional.

The Repertoar of the Sabang Merauke Hero of the Archipelago was opened with the song Kuthidieng which echoed beautifully performed in harmony with orchestral music. On the 31 national and regional songs presented, there was a dialogue from a grandfather played by Butet Kataredjasa and his grandson, played by a young musician, Zie, who told the story of the history of the song and the character of the hero that was displayed.

Director of the Sabang Merauke Hero of the Archipelago, Rusmedie Agus explained, that the dialogue between his grandparents reflects two generations with different views on the spirit of nationality and the story behind the hero from Aceh to Papua with the traditional, ethnic and cultural backgrounds of each region. As a director who was also involved in the previous three performances, Rusmedie emphasized that this time's performance wanted to introduce the history of the heroes of the archipelago through a theatrical performance that combines regional and contemporary dances, a series of regional and national music wrapped with spectacular performances on stage, to Indonesian wastra fashion parades.

The Sabang Merauke performance this time will feel more special and bring us to get to know more about the services of the previous heroes, who are expected to be an inspiration for us as the next generation to continue their struggle as heroes for ourselves. With a demonstration of concepts for six months and preparation for routine three months of training in Yogyakarta and Jakarta, we are optimistic that we can provide attractive performance suggestions and create all pairs of eyes that witness the goosebumps of emotion and are proud to be born in the motherland," he said.

Meanwhile, the choreographer for the Sabang Merauke Hero of the Archipelago, Sandidhea Cahyo Narpati, explained that from the choreography side of this show was entirely new and fresh, there was no repetition from the previous performance. He was supported by other regional dance artists including Dian Bokir, Puri Senja, Rizqy Dafin, Eka Lutfi, Safina Adriani, Pulung Jati, Mugiyono Kasido, Abib Igal, Gunk Mas, and Okvalica have undergone workshops to explore various movements for the sake of stunning performance on stage. Not only related to movement and choreography, but also packaged to be in line with the ideas to the substance that will be submitted to the audience.

There are many elements that we present here. Even though everything has its roots in Indonesian tradition, of course we develop them in such a way as to adapt to the achievements of each region and the heroes we carry. The challenge, in my opinion, is how we assemble and sew all elements of the region into a complete presentation. So the hope is no longer just like variety shows, but the network of red threads about the heroes of the archipelago can be beautifully connected, dynamically and harmoniously," he recounted.

The Sabang Merauke Hero of the Archipelago will be enlivened by top Indonesian singers, including Isyana Sarasvati, Cantika Abigail, Swain Mahisa, Alsant Nababan, Taufan Purbo, Mirabeth Sonia, Christine Tambunan, Nino Prabowo, Yuyun Arfah, Gabriel Harvianto, also special performances fromventriloquist Kak Tony.

The Sabang Merauke-Pahlawan Nusantara performance also featured well-known musicians such as Dian HP, Avip Priatna, Dunung Basuki, Ammir Gita, and Meidy Ratnasari who collaborated to present an arrangement of 31 regional and national songs. The grandness of the music strain will be presented beautifully with the harmony of the orchestra and CHOIr from Jakarta Concert Orchestra and Batavia Madrigal Singers.

Not only presenting music and dance performances, there is also a fashion show at the Sabang Merauke Pahlawan Nusantara performance which displays collections of wastra Nusantara from 17 well-known designers who are members of the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (IPMI) such as Ivan Gunawan, Era Soekamto, Danny Satriadi, Denny Wirawan, Ghea Panggabean, Taufik Bachtiar, as well as the involvement of designers from fashion houses including Iwan Tirta Private Collection, Classic Subeng and Griya Ageman and Ivan Gunawan Cosmetics. The designers' works will be featured by Miss Mega Bintang Indonesia 2023 finalists and also by Miss Grand Indonesia 2023, Ritasya Wellgreat.

In addition to being able to enjoy performing arts on the main stage, visitors to the Sabang Merauke Performance will also be invited to dive into the cultural diversity of the archipelago through cultural fairs that take place outside the performance area.
