JAKARTA - Road to Jakarta Film Week (JFW): Celebration ASEAN Cinema will be held in Jakarta on August 11-13 in order to welcome the Jakarta Film Week 2003 grand event which will be held on October 25-29.

This time JFW is collaborating internationally with ASEAN countries in the context of chairmanship of Indonesia at the ASEAN 2023 Summit. ASEAN also provides full support for JFW as an effort to strengthen ASEAN's cultural and economic development through the film industry.

Road to Jakarta Film Week: Celebration of ASEAN Cinema begins with the screening of Yuni's film at CGV Pacific Place, Jakarta today, Friday, August 11.

The event will continue for the next two days with the screening of films from ASEAN countries in Kineforum, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) Jakarta. The films to be screened come from various ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Andhika Permata as Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism & Creative Economy Agency as well as an institution that initiated Jakarta Film Week hopes that the collaboration carried out can open up good opportunities for the Indonesian film industry.

"This collaborative initiative between Jakarta Film Week and ASEAN is a very positive step. Especially, if you look at the significant growth in the film sector in the ASEAN region," said Andhika Permata in a written release received by VOI on Friday, August 11.

It is hoped that creative industry players, especially the world of cinema, can take advantage of this collaboration to work together stronger with neighboring countries for the advancement of the domestic film industry.

The opportunity to develop deeper collaboration can also emerge, and let us not forget that this opportunity can transform into a new foundation in the development of the film industry in the ASEAN region, which of course will also strengthen the competitiveness of the film industry in Indonesia," said Andhika Permata.

In line with Andhika Permata, Rina Damayanti as the JFW Festival Director revealed that this collaboration can be a good start to a stronger collaboration in the future.

"Celebration of ASEAN Sinema is an event that aims to appreciate the achievements and appreciations received by filmmakers from ASEAN member countries on the international stage. In addition, this celebration also reflects achievements in creativity and innovation in the ASEAN film industry," said Rina Damayanti.

Meanwhile, Road to Jakarta Film Week: Celebration ASEAN Cinema is open to the public whose registration can be done through the official Jakarta Film Week Instagram account.

For additional information, Jakarta Film Week 2023 is ready to be held in October. This year, the film registration process was closed on July 31, with a total of 750 films registered from 55 countries.

Meanwhile, for producers who are interested, registration for the Producer's Lab program in collaboration with Indonesiana, Akatara, Busan Platform, and BIFAN is still open until August 14. Registration for the Series (Jakarta Film Week: Celebration ASEAN Cinema) program is also still open until August 14, 2023.
