Netflix Announces Kretek Girl Series Release Date, November 2

JAKARTA - Netflix Indonesia announced the release date of their latest series, the Kretek Girl. The adaptation series for Ratih Kumala novel will air this year since it was first shared in 2022.

Netflix released a video announcing a date showing Dian Sastrowardoyo's silhouette along with the release date. Kretek's girl was confirmed to be released on November 2, 2023.

Kretek girls are a love story with a kretek industry background in the 1960s. Dian Sastrowardoyo is a visionary woman who likes to mix kretek and Soeraja (Ario Bayu) cigarette sauce.

Their love story occurred in the midst of a big event in Indonesian history. Decades passed, Soeraja's son Lebas (Arya Saloka) met Arum (Putri Marino) who made them reveal the secret of their hidden past.

The Kretek girl was directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah and produced by BASE Entertainment with showrunners Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson.

Ratih Kumala as the writer also worked on the script with Tanya Yuson and Kanya K. Priyanti and Ambaridzki Ramadhantyo.

Kretek girls also starred Tissa Biani, Ine Febriyanti, Winky Wiryawan, Sheila Dara, Ibnu Jamil, Rukman Rosadi, Nungki Kusumastuti, Dimas Aditya, Pritt Timothy, and Tutie Kirana.

In several photos shared by players, they have been in the production process since it was first announced in 2022. Kretek girls are included in the Netflix Indonesia original release list along with other films and series.

With the release date, the Kretek Girl became the second Netflix series in Indonesia after the Ex-Defense Club.

In addition, streaming parties have not shared information about the duration and number of episodes present in this series.
