JAKARTA Two days before the Christmas celebration, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain will hit most areas of the city in Indonesia.

BMKG forecaster Andika F. Hapsari, in a broadcast via the official BMKG YouTube channel on Monday, December 23, said that a number of areas would face various weather conditions, from light rain to thunderstorms.

In the Sumatra region, light rain is expected to occur in the cities of Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Tanjung Pinang, while Padang City has the potential to experience moderate rain.

Light rain is predicted to occur in Ternate, Nabire, and Jayapura, while moderate rain will hit Sorong and Jayawijaya. People in Merauke are advised to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and thunder.

BMKG also reminded people on the coast of Dabo Singkep, Riau, and the coast of Central Java to be aware of tidal flooding.

In general, the air temperature in Indonesia will range from 16-33 degrees Celsius with humidity between 53-99 percent.
