JAKARTA - After 55 years with Reo Speedwagon and spending all of his adult life on stage, keyboardist and founding member Neal Doughty has decided to retire from touring and begin to enjoy the fruits of his years of hard work.

"I want everyone to know that the ride is what I ended up getting," 76-year-old Neal explained in a statement.

"I've always enjoyed the show and am looking out for all the loyal fans who have allowed me to do this for so long."

Meanwhile, bassist Bruce Hall supported whatever his friend's decision was and stated that Neal would always be a member of Reo Speedwagon.

"We all wish him all the best as he enters this exciting phase of his life," said Bruce.

Formed in 1967, Reo Speedwagon will continue as an unstoppable touring machine, with over 50 shows already scheduled for 2023.

Neal can join them at select concert stops.

"It would be a big change not seeing Neal behind the keyboards," said frontman Kevin Cronin. "We will miss his wit and interesting conversation on those long bus rides. But this is what Neal needed, and we're rooting for him."
