Have An Alzheimer's Risk, Hemsworth Gets A Hiatus Of Acting

Actor Chris Hemsworth announced that he would temporarily move from acting to rest after completing his new Disney+ documentary series Limited. The 39-year-old said he decided to take a break from his career to spend time with his family because he has the risk of Alzheimer's. After filming the series, Chris realized that he was not ready to leave this world and his family. Chris also wants to spend time with his children before they grow up and leave the house. "Conducting episodes of death and dealing with my own mistakes made me say, 'Oh my God, I'm not ready to leave yet,'" he was quoted as saying by Fox News, Sealsa, November 22. "I want to sit in this space with greater silence and gratitude. And then you start talking about children and family and say, 'Oh my God, they're getting older, they're growing up, and I keep slapping other films on top of other films.' Before you realized it, they were 18 years old, and they had moved out of the house,” he continued. In this six-section series, Chris tests his physical and mental limits as he explores how to combat aging and prolong his life. While filming, Chris realized that he was 8 to 10 times more likely than the average individual to develop Alzheimer's disease. In the fifth episode of the series, he meets the long-lived doctor Dr. Peter Attia and undergoes a series of genetic tests. “We have every blood test that can be done. And you have two copies of APOE4. A set from your mother and a set from your father, ” Peter told Chris. APOE4 itself is a gene that has the strongest correlation with the development of Alzheimer's disease; however, not much is known about this gene. "The idea that I will not be able to remember the life I experienced, or my wife, my children, may be my biggest fear," the Avengers star honestly shared in the episode. Peter also told Chris that the actor could still reduce the risk if he immediately took steps. “ It is my belief that if we take every possible step, we can reduce your risk to another person's risk,” Peter was quoted as saying by ANTARA. Chris also revealed that his grandfather suffered from the disease. Therefore, he said that this film had inspired him to make significant changes in his life. He also revealed that Disney+ offered to cut the test results from the episode.
