Erick Thohir Ensures Ticket Prices For Trains And Sea Transportation Do Not Rise During Nataru

TANGERANG - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir ensured that the price of train tickets and sea transportation would not increase during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) periods.

Erick conveyed this policy in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto who is committed to providing comfort and convenience for the community in celebrating Nataru.

"The president also asked not to increase the price of train tickets and sea transportation during Nataru," said Erick at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Friday, December 20.

On this occasion, Erick also reported the capacity of trains and sea transportation during Nataru.

He said PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) provided a capacity of 3.5 million seats which are currently 50 percent filled.

For sea transportation, continued Erick, Pelni's ship tickets have been filled with 58 percent.

"There is no increase in ticket prices for trains or ships," he said.

Erick also appreciated the collaboration between the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) in ensuring the smooth operation of transportation during Nataru.

"Alhamdulillah, for two months working with the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, the results are maximized. Thank you, Mr. Minister of Transportation for your support," he said.

Previously reported, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that as many as 110.67 million people will travel during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. Where, 59.52 percent or the majority of the people will use private vehicles when traveling.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the data was taken from a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation.

"The main choice of using private vehicles is 53.78 percent or around 59.52 million," he said during a working meeting with Commission V of the DPR, in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.

Dudy also detailed that 36.07 percent or 39.92 million people would use cars.

Meanwhile, the remaining 17.71 percent or 19.6 million people will use motorbikes.

Meanwhile, he continued, the number of people using public transportation is lower than that of private vehicle users. Referring to the survey results, it was recorded that 48.71 million people would use public transportation in various modes.

The details, 15.04 percent or 16.64 million people use buses. 12.85 percent or 14.22 million people use intercity trains. Then, 8.85 percent or 9.8 million people use planes.

"4.9 percent or 5.43 million people use ferry boats, and 2.37 percent or 2.62 million people use ships," he said.
