JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) noted that the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program known as Home Renovation has been realized as many as 143,009 units as of November 10, 2023.

This figure reaches around 95.10 percent of the total target of 150,380 units.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the BSPS program using the Cash Labor Intensive Method (PKT) aims to maintain people's purchasing power and reduce unemployment.

"I hope this program can improve the quality of life of aid recipients by having a more decent, healthy and comfortable house," Minister Basuki said in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, November 14.

The BSPS program is basically government stimulant assistance to low-income people whose homes are uninhabitable to encourage and increase empowerment in improving the quality of their homes along with general infrastructure, facilities and utilities.

Until November 2023, the construction of self-help houses was carried out through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance program through Rupiah Murni (RPM) with the realization of 138,259 units and through world bank loans (NAHP) as many as 4,750 units.

The PUPR Ministry program is carried out using the Cash Labor Intensive Method (PKT) by involving the community/citizens as development actors, so that it also creates jobs and improves the economy of the local community.

Currently, the BSPS program itself has absorbed 275,936 workers or about 91.75 percent of the total target of 300,760 workers.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, hopes that through the PKT scheme, the BSPS program can provide wider benefits for low-income people, not only having a more decent, healthy and comfortable home, but also reducing unemployment and maintaining people's purchasing power.

"This program really helps people to have decent housing with stimulant funds distributed by the government," he said.
