PT PLN (Persero) is ready to support the government's seriousness in building the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) with the concept of a smart, green, beautiful and environmentally friendly forest city. The entire mobility in IKN will use an electric-based environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

For this reason, PLN has provided infrastructure for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) as an effort to meet the charging of electric cars. As of September 2023, PLN has provided 2 SPKLU units in the IKN area.

In the near future PLN will add 5 SPKLU Ultra Fast Charging mobile in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN, including around the Presidential Palace, Glamping IKN, Residential Construction Workers, to Plaza Ceremony. Then, in 2024, PLN will also add 19 SPKLUs at KIPP IKN.

"Because IKN will be a futuristic city, where all modes of transportation used must be environmentally friendly, we are ready to support infrastructure needs for charging electric vehicles," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo.

He added, to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in IKN, PLN needs to cooperate with various parties. For this reason, PLN opens opportunities for collaboration with various parties in the SPKLU for cars or Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU) for motorbikes at IKN.

"In addition to building an independent SPKLU, we will also cooperate with owners of shopping centers, hospitals and offices in IKN," added Darmawan.

Not only at KIPP IKN, PLN also ensures that SPKLU is available in IKN buffer cities, such as in Balikpapan and Samarinda. Currently, there are 9 SPKLUs spread across East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan. This number will increase by 31 Units by 2024.
