JAKARTA - Indonesia Financial Group (IFG) successfully held the 2023 Labuan Bajo Marathon IFG at Waterfront City, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, Saturday, November 4. Around 2,000 runners took part in the lively annual agenda.

The Chairperson of the IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon 2023 Oktarina Dwidya Sistha appreciated the enthusiasm of the runners who attended and finished running in various categories to finish lines safely.

"We as organizers would like to say a lot of gratitude for the enthusiasm of the runners being very high. In terms of challenges, in the past the route ran with many inclines. However, this year we gave a new route and invited community participation in encouraging runners, there were regional dances to and music along the route," he said.

Sistha added that this event is expected to become a new icon of the running sports agenda in Indonesia and can have an impact on improving the economy and tourist visits to Labuan Bajo. This is in line with the role of IFG as the supervisor of athletics assigned by the Ministry of SOEs.

IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon 2023 was attended by runners from various countries, national runners, the general public of Labuan Bajo, deputy runners from High School (SMA) and local Junior High School (SMP), as well as State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) companies.

The runner in the men's Marathon category, Allah Kimeli from Kenya managed to finish with a record time of 2 hours 37 minutes. Then for the women's Marathon Jane Wanjiru, also from Kenya, she managed to finish 2 hours 51 minutes. Then for the men's master category Marathon, Bambang Oktavianus managed to finish in 3 hours 25 minutes, and Marathon women's master category, Polniwati finished 4 hours 16 minutes.

In the Kenyan men's Half Marathon (HM) category, Peter Ndungu finished at 1 hour 6 minutes, and the woman, How did the Kenyan Mumo finish at 1 hour 19 minutes. Then for HM in the men's master category, Arif Rachman managed to finish at 1 hour 30 minutes, and HM in the women's master category, Elena Trisnawati finished at 1 hour 30 minutes.

Then the male 10K category runner was won by Marselino Varelian Fallo from Kupang with a time of 36 minutes 31 seconds. For 10K, the woman was won by Irma Handayani from Samarinda with a time of 41 minutes 23 seconds. The male 5K category was won by Muhammad Iqra from Sumbawa with a time of 16 minutes 57 seconds. The women's 5K category was won by Eremlinda Moi Ongo from Ngada, NTT with a time of 21 minutes 40 seconds.

Meanwhile, 5k of male junior high schools were won by Nuril Fadila with a time of 23 minutes 17 seconds and 5K of female junior high schools achieved by Nurleli Anisa with a time of 33 minutes 03 seconds. Then 5K in the male high school category was won by Muhamad Rum with a time of 21 minutes 7 seconds, and 5k of female high school was won by Fransiska Trin with a time of 29 minutes 12 seconds.

Sistha expressed her gratitude for the enthusiasm of the runners, the community and the West Manggarai Regency government who have supported today's activities until they went well.

"We hope that this event can be a pride with the people of Labuan Bajo so that it can have a positive impact on society," said Sistha.

In addition to the race event, IFG also held a series of social and environmental responsibility activities (TJSL) and the Manggarai Cultural Seminar which will be held on November 6, 2023 at the West Manggarai Regent's Office.

In closing the IFG LBM 2023 event, the organizers also prepared a Music Festival with guest stars Endank Soekamti and Club Dangdut Toxic on Saturday night at Waterfront Labuan Bajo to provide entertainment to the people of Labuan Bajo.
