Moeldoko: Indonesia Potentially Develops Biomass Bullets For EBT

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said Indonesia has the potential to process and develop biomass pellets from palm oil waste for new and renewable energy (EBT).

"I believe the use of this biomass pellet will be adopted by other countries around the world, and we will be the main players," said Moeldoko at the launch of the palm oil pellet at PT Maulana Karya Persada, Bogor, Saturday, as stated in a written statement received in Jakarta.

To note, the Government continues to strive to increase the renewable energy mix of biomass to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060, one of which is by developing solid fuel from palm oil waste or palm oil pellets.

Moeldoko said that Indonesia has great potential for the development of palm oil pellets. Indonesia's palm oil production reaches 55 million tons per year, which produces waste in the form of flavors, flavors, and palm oil shells that can be processed into pellets.

According to him, this potential is a strength for Indonesia to open a biomass pellet market in the international arena, while ensuring that Indonesia is strong in developing a green economy.

He assessed that palm oil pellets are renewable fuels that have lower exhaust emissions than coal and diesel.

By utilizing palm oil pellets, he said, the Government could not only reduce carbon emissions, but also create new economic opportunities, and strengthen industrial growth while maintaining national energy security.

"We hope that this biomass pellet will become a new energy source commodity that can be used in the long term and worldwide," said Moeldoko.

Currently, there are several foreign companies that have signed cooperation to utilize palm oil pellets into raw materials for power generation.

One of them, Helen Oy, Finland's largest energy company. This collaboration will be carried out by PT Maulana Karya Persada, an Indonesian company engaged in palm oil pellets.

"We are ready to work with Finland to develop palm oil pellets as a sustainable new source of energy," said PT Maulana Karya President Director Persada Abi Maulana.

Palm oil pellets, he said, have several advantages over fossil fuels, including reducing carbon emissions, abundant availability, competitive prices, and easy to transport and store.

In addition to being the raw material for power generation, he continued, palm oil pellets can also be used for industry and transportation.
