Sri Mulyani Calls Indonesia's Key Productivity Avoided From Middle Income Trap

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said productivity is an important key to making Indonesia visible from the trap of middle income traps.

"We want Indonesia to avoid the middle income trap, so we see productivity as the most important part. A country cannot grow just by increasing consumption without it creating a productivity," Sri Mulyani said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 23.

Sri Mulyani said the government continues to strive to allocate education budgets and health budgets that are closely related to productivity.

For example, education is a forum for creating smart human resources. When students and students continue to learn, think critically, and become capable humans, then Indonesia can continue to move forward.

"So this is a form of investment, whatever education, health, and social safety nets are important, because humans are the key," said the Minister of Finance.

However, he also underlined the importance of infrastructure development in supporting productivity.

Insufficient infrastructure can inhibit one's productivity.

Therefore, infrastructure development is one of the ways taken by the government to increase productivity.

On the other hand, the State Treasurer said that government bureaucracy and regulations are also important factors so as not to become obstacles.

"If the government doesn't work, it's not good either. Bureaucratics are important, so that he doesn't become an obstacle factor. Regulations are important," he said.
