Jokowi: 96 Countries Become IMF Patients, Healthy Indonesia

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that currently 96 countries have become "patients" of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This shows that the world conditions are not doing well. This statement was conveyed by Jokowi at the National Consolidation event of the Jokowi Alap-lap Volunteer Network which took place at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java, Saturday 7 October. "Currently, around 96 countries out of a total of more than 260 countries have entered the IMF patients, similar to Indonesia in 1997-1998 which became IMF patients," said Jokowi. Jokowi also emphasized that Indonesia is still lucky because it is in good health, so it does not need to depend on the IMF. In fact, according to him, Indonesia is one of the countries that managed to achieve the best economic growth after the Covid-19 pandemic. Jokowi emphasized that this achievement is inseparable from the hard work of all parties. Through the cooperation and collaboration of various sectors of society, Indonesia managed to recover from an economic and health perspective after facing the pandemic.

"This is something we should be grateful for, because all levels of society, from the lowest to the top, have worked hard together," he added. President Jokowi also shared his experience while traveling throughout Indonesia to ensure the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination. Even though the pandemic is still ongoing, he is still actively monitoring and ensuring that vaccination programs run well throughout the country.
