Xinyi Group's Reaction Regarding Rempang Conflict, Investment Minister Bahlil: They Want To Finish Well

JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia said his party had coordinated with the Xinyi Group regarding the continuation of investment on Pulau Rempang, Batam, Riau Islands.

According to Bahlil, Xinyi understands the current conditions in the region.

For your information, Xinyi Group, in this case Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd, is one of the investors who will set up a glass factory on Rempang Island with an investment value of IDR 175 trillion.

Xinyi Group itself is a partner of PT Makmur Elok Graha (MEG).

In fact, continued Bahlil, this Chinese company also wants the conflict in Rempang, Batam, Riau Islands, to be completed properly and not drag on.

"God willing, they want to understand. Because my representatives before my meeting called, God willing, they understand. They think that they can solve it together well and if they can, they hope to be faster. That's much better," he said in a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Jakarta, Monday, October 2.

Although the Xinyi Group wants the Rempang Island conflict to be resolved quickly, Bahlil said the company did not pressure the government.

"But the position doesn't put pressure on us, no. Hopefully. We can solve this and do it well and quickly," said Bahlil.

Regarding the conflict in Rempang, continued Bahlil, the Xinyi Group handed everything over to the Indonesian government.

This Chinese glass company believes the government can make wise decisions for the public and investors.

"Until today they still leave it to us to make the best (decision), we must be wise for the people and investors," he said.

Bahlil said that investment is one way to achieve Indonesia's 2045 gold.

According to him, if investors run to other countries, then Indonesia's chances of achieving this position will be difficult.

"Unless we all agree to expel investment, that's okay. If we agree, don't dream 2045 will become a gold Indonesia. Later Indonesia will be copper later," he said.
