Regarding The Government Bans TikTok Shop Selling, Entrepreneurs From Surabaya: Obstructing The Digitization Of MSMEs

JAKARTA - Entrepreneur or crazy rich from Surabaya Tom Liwafa also opened his voice regarding the government's move to ban social commerce, especially TikTok Shop for selling.

It is known that the revision of the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 50 of 2020 concerning Provisions for Business Licensing, Advertising, Development, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems in the near future will soon be promulgated.

When the revision of the regulation has been issued, later all social commerce will be prohibited from acting as producers.

Tom Liwafa assessed that the e-commerce ban on selling only hinders the digitization of MSMEs and harms a number of other parties.

"Now, if it's a little prohibited, a little forbid, my question is that the current government is a form of digitizing MSMEs. Sorry, if it's just a ban, where is the solution, while we sacrifice hundreds of thousands of sellers formed there, people who don't have money to rent shop houses or buy billions, they sell through TikTok Shop or e-commerce platforms easily," said Tom Liwafa, quoted from his personal Instagram account @tomliwafa video, on Tuesday, September 26.

"So, if for example it is later banned, what is the solution like?' did we then sacrifice the struggle of our friends online shop, who they had big dreams from non-toko until they became big," he said.

"So what? Sorry, here, don't let you just ban it, okay, regulations are regulated, I agree, but if then ban massively like that, what is the solution, sir, I'm sorry," he added.

He also hopes that his statement on his personal Instagram account can be heard by the government.

"I am only a representative of TikTok's friends, and represent seller friends rather than online shops. I also have the authority to talk (speak up), speak up. I hope this is heard by the government," he explained.

Meanwhile, the businessman and husband of actress Gritte Agatha, Arif Hidayat, also commented on the government's move to ban TikTok Shop from selling.

He commented on one of the account uploads, namely @ussfeeds, which stated that the government had banned direct transactions on TikTok. In this case, Jokowi only allows TikTok Shop to carry out promotions.

Arif immediately asked when the ban would take effect in Indonesia.

Even so, this businessman in the fashion sector with a clothing brand called Livehaf feels that his business is not too disturbed by this. This is because the initial basis of his business is his own website.

"Fortunately, the initial base was on its own website. However, the internet was blocked and I continued selling offline," he said.
