Sandiaga Uno Calls The Fire In Bromo Causes Hotel Occupancy To Drop By 80 Percent

KARANGANYAR - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) RI Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the fire that occurred in the forest area of Mount Bromo, East Java, affected the occupancy or occupancy rate of hotel guests around the area. "What happened in Bromo is very concerned, the impact is negative," Sandiaga said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 15.

According to him, there was a decrease in hotel occupancy rate by 80 percent, from around 100 percent to 20 percent. Based on the study, he asked all national park managers to conduct a study so that the safety aspects of visitors are more considered.

Thus, according to him, a sustainable tourism sector will be achieved.

He hopes that the party that caused the fire will be given legal sanctions so that there will be a deterrent effect in the future.

"The law must be able to provide justice because many are affected, especially economic actors," he said.

In addition, according to him, a thorough evaluation is also needed so that nature-based tourism should refer to CHSE (cleanliness, health, security and environmental sustainability).

Meanwhile, related to the target of tourist movement in 2023, it is hoped that it can reach 1.2-1.4 billion movements. This figure has increased when compared to 2022, which is 700 million tourist movements.

"Last June's end was still in the range of 400-500 million movements. Hopefully there will be encouragement in the Christmas and New Year holidays to achieve the target," he said.
