JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi emphasized that Indonesia must play a role as an exporter of electric motors to the global market by utilizing the economic power and export capabilities it has. "We are indeed the largest ASEAN market but that is not enough, even it becomes a sin for us if we don't export out. So the economic power that exists in the country becomes a power and then we can provide export capabilities because it is indeed economically good," Budi said at the Real Action Event HIPPINDO After the ASEAN 2023 Summit in the MH. Budi conveyed this after witnessing the signing of a cooperation contract between one of Indonesia's electric motor manufacturers and a Malaysian company to open a network of distributions of electric motorcycles and factories in the neighboring country. The opening of the electricity motor distribution network in Malaysia, said Budi, is important in encouraging the export rate of domestic products and such steps is expected to be followed by other products. "The steps must be forwarded to other products because honestly it is not easy to convince foreign parties of export destinations and we must be motivated to make these products competitive and feasible to obtain," said Budi.
