Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Construction Of Cirebon-Semarang Earth Gas Transmission Pipeline Completed

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that the Cirebon-Semarang (Cisem) natural gas transmission pipeline construction project phase I (Semarang-Batang) has been completed.

Thus, the status of the Cisem I pipeline is currently declared "ready for gas". After this stage, the next process is the implementation of commissioning.

"The Cisem Phase I pipeline has been completed and ready for gas in to coincide with the commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The completion of the construction of the Cisem I pipeline, which coincides with the Indonesian Independence Day, hopefully can be a momentum to revive us by providing cheap energy services by building energy infrastructure in this case, gas pipeline infrastructure financed by the government," said Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Tutuka Ariadji in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 20.

He hopes that the gas that will flow through Cisem phase I, in addition to being used for industrial needs, can also be used for the benefit of the community through the city gas network (jargas).

"We hope that what has been done so far can be used as much as possible. For those who have an interest, one of them is industry. Industry here in the Kendal and Batang industrial areas. Apart from industry, some of it is also used for gas networks in this passed area," said Tutuka.

Tutuka added that the pipeline that was built at this time was only connected from Semarang to Batang, it is planned that in the future it will be continued and connected to Cirebon.

"While only connecting Semarang to Batang, in the future we really hope to connect again to Cirebon and Kandang Haur, thus connecting natural gas pipelines from East Java to West Java and even more to Sumatra," he said.

The construction of the Cisem Phase I pipeline is one of the government's efforts to improve access to natural gas for the entire community and industry.

The distribution of natural gas through transmission pipes is expected to increase the accessibility of natural gas, most of which comes from gas fields in East Java, to Central Java to meet the needs of developing industries.

The Cisem Phase I pipeline project is a 60 km long 20-inch gas transmission pipeline construction project from Semarang to Batang.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas initiated the development to meet gas needs in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with a projected gas requirement of up to 39.42 MMSCFD from 26 companies to 2026, Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB) with a projected gas requirement of 25.83 MMSCFD from 14 companies in KITB phase I to 2028 and meeting the gas needs of other industrial areas along the Cisem transmission pipeline phase I.

Natural gas that will be channeled through the Cisem gas pipeline comes from the Jambaran Tiung Biru (Bora Working Area) Field, Long Term Plan (LTP) WK Cepu (Lapan Cendana-Alas Tua) and WK Tuban (Lapapan Sumber-2).
