JAKARTA - LG Electronics (LG) will launch the LG Smart Cottage, part of an LG housing solution service, at the IFA 2023 event which will take place on September 1-5 2023 in Berlin, Germany. Smart Cottage is a modulary or prefabricated home that combines the latest LG heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technology, as well as the latest integrated energy, equipment and intelligent home service solutions.

Combining premium equipment and room conveniences built by utilizing the latest technology and module housing techniques, LG Smart Cottage presents a new lifestyle that is more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Smart Cottage is designed by prioritizing sustainability and in line with LG's vision, namely 'Better Life for All.' This modulary house is a small studio-style building that has two floors and provides a functional, comfortable, and maximum space efficiency environment.

Despite being small, this modulary house has all the equipment and facilities needed for the convenience of its residents and can be transported or moved to other places easily. According to a ReportLinker report, the global home module market is expected to reach 22.9 billion US dollars by 2028 with an annual growth rate (CAGR) of up to 4.8 percent from 2023 to 2028.

The interior of the room has a relaxed and premium atmosphere thanks to the'soft, stable, and smooth' LG design and uses a variety of harmonious materials such as wood, tiles, and yellows. Some of the house components can be dismantled and made of low carbon steel material so that they are more environmentally friendly. These components are produced by POSCO, a well-known steel company from South Korea.

LG Smart Cottage also has innovative kitchen utensils, living rooms, and ventilation systems with high efficiency. Some of the installed LG technologies include a WashTower Compact washing machine, QuadWash dish washing machine, various built-in kitchen utensils, water purification, and a water-to-water heat pump (AWHP) Therma V Monobloc pumping system.

In addition to providing space convenience throughout the year with a smaller use of electrical power compared to the usual heating and cooling system, LG AWHP can save energy and provide hot water because it has been connected to the Integrated Water Tank (IWT) with a capacity of 200 liters.

The exterior has been equipped with environmentally friendly LG technology and can meet the daily energy needs of two residents. There is a 4-kilowatt solar panel (kW) installed on the roof of the building and connected to the LG Energy Storage System (ESS) so that solar power can be stored safely. This solar panel is also capable of producing up to 15 kilowatts of electricity per day.

Excess energy can be stored in ESS for use at other times or can be sold to electricity providers who have partnered with LG. In addition, this modulary house is equipped with a charger for electric vehicles so that it can make it easier for residents who own the vehicle.

To provide a smart and comfortable user experience, all the equipment in this LG Smart Cottage has been connected to the LG ThinQ application. By using this application, residents can easily control each equipment, manage the entire ventilation and air conditioning system, and monitor real-time energy storage and consumption.

The LG ThinQ app also has various features connected to Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology that functions to improve security, such as cameras, motion sensors, and smart door rings so that residents can live safely and calmly.

To establish this Smart Cottage, LG partnered with GS Engineering & Construction Corp (GS E&C), a leading South Korean civil service and engineering provider.

Lyu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics Home Application & Air Solution Company, said, LG Smart Cottage is not just an ordinary modulary home, but is also an innovative residential solution for a sustainable lifestyle, where various home appliances have been connected to the ThinQ application. LG revolutionizes residential concepts by implementing integrated energy, equipment and service solutions so that residents can live comfortably

LG will open a booth located at Hall 18, Messe Berlin, at the IFA 2023 (1-5 September 2023). Here, visitors can get more information about LG Smart Cottage and various other innovations that can improve their comfort in life.
