JAKARTA - Coinciding with 2 years after the management of the Rokan Block, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is now at the peak of Indonesia's oil and gas (oil and gas) production. With the achievement of 172 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOPD), PHR continues to support the ideals of 1 million barrels in 2030.

EVP Upstream Bussines Edwil Suzandi said the highest achievement in the production of the Rokan Working Area PHR (WK) was achieved to coincide with the 2nd anniversary of the Rokan Block managed by Pertamina and also the commemoration of the 66th Anniversary of Riau Province.

"Alhamdulillah, today PHR is a historic moment for PHR which coincides with 2 years instead of managing the Rokan Block and Riau Anniversary, PHR production in the Rokan Block reached 172,710 thousand BOPD, which is the highest number since the transfer of management and also God willing, it will be the highest oil and gas production figure in Indonesia today," said Edwil, in his statement, Friday, August 11.

Edwil emphasized that this highest achievement could not be separated from the contribution of PHR workers and partners, as well as support from policy makers and also the people of Riau.

"Thank you for the support of all parties for PHR, hopefully PHR can continue to improve its performance in an effort to support national energy and achieve the target of 1 million barrels of oil per day by 2030," said Edwil.

Edwil said that the production achievement could not be separated from the massive drilling activities supported by reliable and safe performance. Since the transfer of management, PHR has drilled as many as 825 wells and there are 84 rigs in the Rokan WK.

"We also managed to shorten the drilling time in just 5 days. So in a month PHR can drill as many as 30 to 40 new wells. Of course we hope it will be more productive," said Edwil.

To note, the positive trend of increasing PHR production has been seen since the end of July 2023, where the highest number in a row was 167,645 BOPD on July 31, 2023, then 168,730 BOPD on August 1, 2023, continuing 167,034 BOPD on August 2, 2023 and 169,282 BOPD on August 7, 2023.

"This successive achievement is the fruit of the efforts of PHR workers in an effort to increase production to support national energy supply," said Edwil.

In addition, continued Edwil, currently PHR is working on the production of Non Conventional Oil (MNK) in Gulamo and Kelok wells in Rokan Hilir (Rohil) Regency. The drilling of MNK wells is one of the largest drillings carried out by PHR, because it has to penetrate to a depth of 8,500 feet with a rig capacity of 1,500 horsepower (HP).

"This MNK opportunity is expected to contribute to national oil and gas production," said Edwil.
