Celebrate 67th Anniversary, Danamon Donates 67 Electric Motors

PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) celebrates its 67th anniversary with the theme TUMBUH TOGETHER which affirms Danamon's commitment to always be present and become an organization that focuses on customers' financial needs, employee growth, and the wider community. With a vision of caring and helping millions of people to achieve prosperity, Danamon celebrates his 67th age with a donation of 67 electric motors to 15 Danamon partners.

Currently, the Indonesian government is aggressively promoting the adoption of electric motorcycles. Not without reason, this is because Indonesia is one of the largest motorcycle markets in the world with a very high number of motorcycle users.

According to the Korlantas.polri.go.id page, the number of motorcycle users in Indonesia has reached 119,865,038 units. By encouraging the adoption of electric motors, the Government hopes to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels used by internal combustion motors.

"As part of a financial services institution that encourages the growth of the national automotive industry, Danamon supports the campaign for the adoption of electric motorcycles echoed by the Government. This commitment is translated into real action by providing electric motorbikes that can be rented by employees. The initial electric motorcycle rental project is carried out in collaboration with the Danamon Jakarta Employee Cooperative. The main goal is for employees to experience firsthand the use of electric motors, thus encouraging the formation of an environmentally friendly lifestyle and work style," said Herry Hykmanto, Director of Sharia & Sustainability Finance PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, in his statement, Friday 14 July.

Herry further explained, through the Danamon Peduli program, Danamon donated 67 electric motors that can be used as operational vehicles, test drives, or leased to members and employees of each cooperative partner. Involving 15 Employee Cooperative partners in this campaign, Danamon hopes that this collaboration can expand the involvement of various parties to actively contribute to achieve net zero emissions.

Even though electric motors have higher relative capital costs than ordinary motorbikes, they offer better specifications, lower energy consumption and carbon emissions, purchase fees, and tax benefits. Electric motor production in Indonesia is projected to reach 1.34 million units by 2021 and 11.8 million units in the future. We appreciate Danamon's move for a more environmentally friendly future," said Mostard Kai, Head of the Panasonic Gobel Employee Cooperative representing the recipient partner of the electric motor donation from Danamon.

The partnership between Danamon and Employee Cooperatives has been established for more than 20 years. During this period, more than 500 cooperatives have become Danamon partners and customers. The cooperative, which celebrates its 76th anniversary on July 12, is also a strategic partner for Danamon in building a sustainable Indonesian economy.

This collaboration ceremony was held in a hybrid manner at the Tower of Bank Danamon on July 12, 2023, with the presence of the Director of Sharia & Sustainability Finance Bank Danamon, Chairman of the Panasonic Gobel Employee Cooperative, Chairman of the Kayaba Employee Cooperative, Chairman of the Summi Rubber Cooperative, and Hexindo Employee Cooperative. Meanwhile, 11 other cooperatives receiving donations attended symbolically the mapping of donations online.

With this donation, Danamon hopes that this contribution can create a sustainable ecosystem. Symbolically, the donation of electric motors also reflects Danamon's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and encouraging the use of clean energy. Through collaboration with cooperative partners, we hope this will pave the way for positive changes to a more sustainable future, "explained Herry. In addition to employees and customers, Danamon affirms its commitment to growing together with partner communities that have supported sustainability programs, especially in the field of access to education, health and environment. Danamon is committed to supporting sustainable business development through a number of initiatives in the Danamon Sustainable Ecosystem campaign.

The campaign began internally with the installation of solar panels and LED lights, construction of electric vehicle charging stations in Danamon buildings, planting mangroves, and encouraging the use of sustainable products among employees.
