JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Petrochemical Trading is collaborating with PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional through its subsidiary PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI), in the shipment and initial distribution of Orthoxylene products for domestic industrial consumers.

President Director of PT Pertamina Petrochemical Trading Deni Febrianto explained, Orthoxylene products produced by the PT TPPI refinery in Tuban, East Java, are petrochemical derivative products that have quite promising profit prospects and sustainability.

"Orthoxylene products are one of the valuable products from the 211 aromatic fractionation unit, without reducing Paraxylene products and have the same valuable and sustainable products with a demand of 30.000-4.,000 tons/year in phase 1," he said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, July 4.

He added, his party had committed to serve the distribution of orthoxylene raw materials in 2023 to PT Petrowidada as a strategic domestic industry consumer.

"With the availability of this Orthoxylene product, the factory owned by PT Petrowidada which was previously stopped due to dependence on imported supplies will resume operations. This increases the added value of the product and efficiency in the supply chain so that it has a positive impact not only for PT Petrowidada, but also for the final consumers of Phthalic Anhydride (PA) and the people of Indonesia," said Deni.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Ignatius Warsito said that domestic Orthoxylene production would reduce dependence on imported raw materials, help Indonesia's trade balance as well as secure the petrochemical industry tree chain.

"Pertamina can become a national economic locomotive that has a big impact on the Indonesian economy," he said.

In addition to strengthening the marketing and sales of Orthoxylene products, PT Pertamina Petrochemical Trading will also continue to expand the development of the marketing network for other petrochemical products including Paraxylene, Benzene, Propylene, Polyethylene and Polypropylene.

"In its marketing activities, PT Pertamina Petrochemical Trading is committed to meeting the needs of the domestic petrochemical and derivative industries in order to support the sustainability of the petrochemical industry in Indonesia," he added.
