PT PLN (Persero) has added a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in Aceh Province, precisely at the PLN Office of the Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Sigli. The addition of this SPKLU is carried out in line with the increasing public interest in using electric vehicles in Aceh Province.

General Manager of PLN's Main Distribution Unit (UID) Aceh Parulian Noviandri said the presence of SPKLU at PLN UP3 Sigli was a form of PLN's support for strengthening the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem in Pidie Regency and Pidie Jaya Regency.

"The presence of electric vehicles and SPKLU will be able to reduce dependence on fuel oil or fossil energy, which is increasingly limited in availability," Parulian said in a written statement, Tuesday, May 13.

Parulian said the presence of the first SPKLU to be present at the PLN UID Aceh Office in March last year increased public awareness of electric vehicles.

"We hope that the presence of SPKLU will encourage the use of electric vehicles, so that it is very good for improving our environment from air pollution," he said.

Parulian explained that this new SPKLU addition could be an option for electric vehicle owners who want to charge. The massive availability of SPKLU is expected to meet the needs of the community.

Parulian also invites the public to switch to using electric vehicles. Because apart from being environmentally friendly and emission-free, the cost of using electric vehicles is much cheaper and more efficient.

"Now people don't need to worry anymore to charge their electric vehicles. PLN will continue to increase this charging facility," said Parulian.

Nationally, PLN currently provides 616 units spread across 237 locations. This number has increased compared to the previous year's 267 units in 197 locations. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources targets the number of SPKLUs in the country as many as 1,030 units by 2023.

Parulian said that in addition to preparing charging facilities, PLN also provides many incentives for the community. PLN provides additional discounts for new electric vehicle owners. In addition, for those who charge electric vehicles at PLN's house, they will provide a 30 percent discount on electricity rates from 22.00 WIB to 05.00 WIB.

"Through PLN Mobile, PLN also presents electric vehicles digital services that provide various services to make it easier for electric vehicle users, ranging from the nearest SPKLU search, to marketplace platforms where people can find the needs of their electric vehicles," Parulian concluded.
