Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi invited member countries of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to invest in airports in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Budi when he was one of the speakers at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium or ICAO GISS 2023 meeting in Seoul, South Korea.

Budi revealed that there are still a number of post-COVID-19 problems that must be resolved.

Some of them are demand or public interest which is starting to increase to use aircraft that have not been balanced in terms of supply or the availability of aircraft fleets.

In addition, continued Budi, there are also many airports that need to continue to increase their capacity and service quality. Along with that, Budi hopes for global support and collaboration in the world of civil aviation through ICAO.

According to Budi, collaboration and synergy can be done in many ways, one of which is in terms of funding to support development needs in the field of aviation which is in line with ICAO's strategic targets.

Budi also said that Indonesia is trying to intensify partnerships with a number of countries. Given the limited fiscal capacity of the state (APBN).

"We open up opportunities for cooperation through various cooperation schemes between the government and business entities," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, May 30.

Budi said, one of the investment opportunities in Indonesia for ICAO member countries is business in the airport sector. Budi said Indonesia has many large airports.

We invite foreign investors to be able to place investment in these airports. We also invite collaboration between Indonesian airlines and abroad so that there is one financial strength. Hopefully ICAO can help promote its member countries," he said.

Budi said, airport investments made by foreigners in Indonesia have also occurred several times. For example, partnership cooperation between Angkasa Pura 2 and GMR India at Kualanamu Airport, Medan, as well as partnership cooperation through the Angkasa Pura 1 Wika consortium and Incheon Airport at Batam Airport.

In the future, Budi hopes that ICAO can continue to provide facilities to improve the quality of human resources for aviation industry players, through various programs such as workshops, seminars and other vocational programs.

"This is needed by aviation industry players, in order to continue to meet international standards and improve aspects of safety, security, and flight services," he said.
