JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government collaborate to optimize mass transportation services from and to Soekarno Hatta Airport and vice versa.

This was conveyed in a meeting between the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, on Sunday, May 28.

"We discussed how to increase capacity, expand reach, integrate with various modes, and seek more affordable mass transportation rates for people who will go to Soekarno Hatta Airport and vice versa in the Greater Jakarta area," he said in an official statement, Sunday, May 28.

Prior to the meeting, the Minister of Transportation together with the Acting Governor and several related officials had used the airport train from Manggarai Station to Soetta Airport Station. Then returned from Soetta Airport using an inspection train to Sudirman Baru Station (BNI City) and held a coordination meeting.

Budi revealed that rail transportation is one of the reliable transportation to move from Jabodetabek to Soetta Airport. According to him, trains are timely, comfortable modes and can reach every place.

Furthermore, Budi revealed, one of the efforts that will be made to improve train services to and from Soetta Airport is to provide check-in counters and baggage at train stations, making it easier for people who will go to the airport or vice versa.

People who will go to the airport or vice versa will definitely bring goods. We will think about how to check in, it is not necessary at the airport but can be at Manggarai or Bekasi stations. And vice versa from the airport, you can take the goods at the destination station. We will try to make these conveniences," he said.

Another effort that will be made to improve rail services is to increase the number of trains from the current 40 trainsets to 56 trainsets, thereby increasing the carrying capacity.

Then, add train travel routes from and to Soetta Airport to Bekasi Station, with the Bekasi, Jatinegara, Pasar Senen, Kampung Bandan, Duri, to Soetta Airport Station and vice versa.

Integration can be carried out including reaching Bekasi Station, because the airport train is currently managed by KAI Commuter so that it can be aligned with the KRL schedule. The next effort is to maximize the facilities at stations in Jabodetabek such as park and ride facilities.

"The addition of this facility can be done by collaborating with the private sector," said the Minister of Transportation.

On the same occasion, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, said that he fully supports the policies of the central government through the Ministry of Transportation in an effort to improve mass transportation services to and from Soetta Airport.

He supports the efforts of the central government to integrate transportation modes such as: trains, Damri, Transjakarta, and other modes to complement each other.

"We support the proposals submitted, one of which is so that Transjakarta buses can enter the airport at certain hours for the convenience of airport employees. Hopefully these conveniences can be felt by residents of Jakarta and its surroundings," said Heru.
