Invite The Community To Go Home Using Public Transportation, Minister Of SOEs: Can Use A Train, If You Can Take A Plane

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir invited the public to go home for Lebaran 2023 by using public transportation.

This step is to reduce the density of private vehicle traffic during homecoming.

Erick said, SOEs provide various public transportation options ranging from trains to airplanes.

This transportation can be chosen as an alternative mode of transportation for homecoming.

Erick said that rail transportation modes have advantages because of their fatigue.

Meanwhile, people whose economies are sufficient can choose to use airplanes.

"The train alternative is one of the things I said from the start with the right and fast goals, especially if there are promos and others. But for those who can afford airplanes there is also Citilink, other classes that are certainly affordable, that is also an alternative," he said at Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 18.

Erick said that state-owned airlines such as Garudan Indonesia and Pelita Air have also been increased in capacity to accommodate a surge in passengers during the Leberan 2023 homecoming season.

Erick admitted that he understands that many people want to go home with private vehicles.

However, he said, travelers must also take into account the density of vehicle traffic to the cost of fuel oil (BBM).

"I know that many people want to use private vehicles because it is easier, of course, with the level of congestion that was conveyed by the police, there must also be calculations. Don't go to the house already, even though you want to go home, then you have traffic jams, how much fuel is not done," he explained.

On the other hand, Erick said to anticipate the increase in COVID-19 cases during the Eid homecoming flow, his party asked travelers to continue to comply with health protocols (prokes) in public transportation.

"The current condition is much better. But we still have to be vigilant. We have a success story on how to deal with COVID-19 cases first. As long as the community cooperates with the government. That's why we are aware of those who have not been vaccinated," he said.
