Bulog Asked to Distribute 7 Million Liters of Minyakita, Buwas: Not Yet Appointed Distributor

JAKARTA - Main Director of Perum Bulog, Budi Waseso, said that his party is still waiting for an assignment from the government regarding the distribution of 7 million litres of simple packaged cooking oil with the Minyakita trademark.

"That's just the assignment allocation, we have to take the assignment allocation. So in real terms, we haven't. Because it has not yet been determined which factories will supply Bulog", he told journalists, writing on Sunday, February 12.

Furthermore, Buwas, the nickname for Budi Waseso, also admitted that he did not know what kind of Minyakita products would be distributed by Bulog.

However, regarding the distribution mechanism, said Buwas, the government had already determined it.

"We already have a distribution mechanism, but we have to see the goods first, what the goods are like", he explained.

Previously it was reported, Bapanas ensured that the producers agreed to supply cooking oil to BUMN Food as much as 29 million litres per month. This supply is used as a Government Food Reserve (CPP) for cooking oil commodities.

Arief said that with the Government Cooking Oil Reserves (CMGP), the government could intervene in the market to prevent cooking oil price fluctuations ahead of National Religious Holidays (HBKN).

Arief said Bapanas asked cooking oil producers to support the government's efforts to realize the availability of government cooking oil reserves through a commitment to distribute cooking oil to ID FOOD and Perum Bulog.

"The government needs good collaboration with all parties, both between ministries and institutions, BUMN, as well as the private sector or cooking oil producers, so we involve the producers to provide input regarding supply for BUMN Food", he said in an official statement, Thursday, 9 February.

Arief said, for this initial stage, a total of 29 million litres per month agreed on the Commitment to Distribution of Cooking Oil Producers to Food SOEs.

Furthermore, Arief said the amount consisted of 18 million litres of bulk cooking oil and 12 million litres of packaged cooking oil.

Of the total 29 million litres, ID FOOD will receive the distribution of 22 million litres and Bulog 7 million litres.

"The distribution will start from February to March", said Arief.

Arief said that the amount would be supplied by seven cooking oil producers, consisting of 33,000 litres of PT Bina Karya Prima, 11 million litres of PT SMART, 8 million litres of Apical Group and 600,000 litres of KPN Group.

Then, PT Mahesi Agri Karya 666,000 litres, PT LDC Indonesia 3 million litres, and PT Permata Hijau Group 6 million litres. Meanwhile, the amount of distribution from PT Salim Ivomas and PT Tanjung Sarana Lestari will be announced later.
